About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Sales and Marketing Manager to join our team in Durban, South Africa. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for driving sales growth, expanding customer pipelines, and leading cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. With a strong background in chemical industry sales and marketing, you will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise to drive revenue and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to grow revenue, margins, and market share across all chemical and commodity products
- Build, manage, and continuously expand a strong sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, customer engagement, and market development
- Identify new industries, customers, and applications for company’s product range
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers, ensuring retention, contract renewals, and cross-selling opportunities
- Lead pricing, quotation, contract, and commercial negotiations with customers
- Support product introductions by assessing market demand, pricing, logistics feasibility, and customer readiness
- Prepare and support tenders, proposals, and commercial submissions
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, import volumes, and customer demand to inform sales strategies
- Represent company at customer meetings, industry forums, and commercial engagements
Requirements
- Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in sales and marketing within the chemical, industrial, or commodities sector
- Proven experience selling products such as soda ash, fertilizers, ammonium sulphate, sodium sulphate, sodium carbonate, minerals, ores, or grains
- Strong understanding of chemical importation, warehousing, and distribution operations
- Demonstrated experience managing key accounts and building new customer pipelines
- Experience with SHEQ compliance, chemical safety, and legal health and safety appointments
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field
