Warehouse Manager
KZN
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall performance and well-being of the warehouse
receiving, storage and picking departments of the distribution centre, its staff and its customers.
Monitoring operational capacity and process to ensure the sustainability of the distribution centre
warehouse operations at the right cost and to the right quality standards.
The Key Functional responsibility of the Warehouse Manager includes but is not limited to:
1. Cost control Warehouse expenditure is managed within budget.
Labour is managed within budgeted KPIs.
Stock losses are managed within budgeted KPIs.
Stock damages are managed within budgeted KPIs.
Repairs and maintenance are managed within budgeted KPIs.
Machinery is managed within budgeted KPIs.
Cost overruns are investigated, and appropriate countermeasures are instituted to prevent further
overruns.
Expenditure is recorded in correct period.
Accounts are accurate.
2. Process Compliance:
Consistently compliant with all Company procedures.
Warehouse quality standards are consistently maintained in accordance with requirements.
Pass all internal and external quality audits.
Audit gaps are closed within prescribed due dates.
Perform staff on the job procedure assessments weekly.
Shift expenditure is managed within shift budget. Cost overruns for shift are investigated, and
appropriate counter measures are instituted to prevent further overruns.
3. Continuous Improvement:
Process, quality, service level and cost improvements are actively pursued through the
process.
4. Picking:
Picking is accurate according to agreed target.
Provide resources required according to pick plan.
5. Receiving:
Receiving is accurate according to
agreed target.
Provide resources required to achieve
receiving plan.
Floor is clear before pick.
All pallets are labelled.
6. Facility and equipment maintenance (buildings, racks, plant, MHEs, delivery equipment etc.)
Assets are well maintained, clean and good working order.
Warehouse is well maintained, neat and clean.
Health and safety repairs are completed without delay.
Preventative maintenance is carried out according to program.
Everything has a place; every place is labelled, and everything is in its place.
Attend and contribute to daily Max sessions
7. Planning:
Activities are planned.
Activities are resourced according to plan.
Sign off weekly plan.
Review daily plan.
Assist in preparation of budget.
8. Reporting:
Provide daily and weekly plan versus actual report.
Reports are accurate.
Report deadlines are met.
Variance vs budget/plans are explained.
9. Risk management:
Sprinkler and fire systems always in 100% working order.
Racks inspected per procedure.
Refrigeration plant and equipment is maintained according to specification.
Generator is maintained according to specification.
Comply with all relevant legislation.
10. People management:
Hold monthly team meetings.
Conduct formal One-on-One meetings with direct reports at least once per month.
Minimum Requirements:
5 7 Years in Warehousing & Distribution Management role within a QSR / FMCG environment.
Grade 12 with Tertiary degree in Supply Chain / logistics Management or similar.
Intermediate to advanced MS Office PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Advanced MS Excel Skills
Advanced Warehouse Management Systems experience
Advanced MS Great Plains
Work Experience Required 5-7 Years in Management:
Warehousing & Distribution Shift Management
Inventory Management
Supply Chain Management
People Management
Disciplinary Enquiries
Health & Safety Management
Facility & Asset Management
Contingency Planning & Management
Best Practice / Continuous Improvement Management
Management of multi temperature stock items
Management of complex, multi-site, multi-disciplinary, multi-culture organizations.
Integrated strategy formulation and execution within large organizations of 400 plus employees
