About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team in Durbanville, working in a hybrid setup that combines remote and office work. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for supporting multiple companies within a multi-entity group, ensuring seamless financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices, resolve queries, and prepare weekly payment runs
- Maintain customer and supplier records with accuracy and escalate where needed
- Perform daily bank postings and assist with bank reconciliations
- Assist with month-end close, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Record financial transactions in the General Ledger
- Manage accounts payable (invoices, payments, reconciliations, age analysis)
- Manage accounts receivable (invoices, receipts, reconciliations, age analysis)
- Prepare and maintain cashflow forecasts and reports
- Assist with monthly management accounts and audit queries
- Reconcile petty cash
- Prepare accounts payable/receivable journals and accruals
- Handle online payments and SARS administration
Requirements
- Degree / Diploma in Accounting or equivalent qualification
- 35 years of experience in a Junior Accountant role
- 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Proven experience operating within a multi-entity group, supporting companies with different shareholders and stakeholder priorities
- Own vehicle and driver’s license
