About the Role
A leading and reputable company based in Cape Town is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team, contributing to the success of their operations through innovative solutions and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentoring/development of junior engineers
- Developing engineering solutions to repetitive failures and other problems affecting plant operations
- Creating short- and long-term plans for improvement activities, resource optimization, training, and spare parts management
- Collaborating with contractors on construction and installation of process units on a project basis
- Managing planning, scheduling, staffing, and execution of daily equipment repairs and capital projects, attending weekly planning meetings
- Practicing proactive maintenance, encouraging production and maintenance personnel to submit work for planning and scheduling
- Ensuring accurate and complete data collection regarding the work process
- Supporting start-up and integration of new operations projects
- Providing engineering support to project and operations teams to achieve business goals
- Documenting operational processes, equipment, and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3-7 years of experience
- Experience in processing plant design
- Good knowledge of pumping systems design
- Equipment technical specifications design and development skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft packages
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Multi-disciplinary engineering skills
- Ability to work precisely and methodically with minimum supervision
- Technical writing and documentation skills
