About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to join our team in East London, responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound logistics operations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in managing unionized environments, imports, and overseas suppliers, as well as excellent business acumen and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that material and components required in manufacturing are available timeously
- Manage material and finish goods inventories in line with annual budget
- Conduct cycle counts and perform stock adjustments timeously
- Coordinate forecasts with suppliers to ensure timely arrival of imported and local components
- Compile monthly KPIs related to the logistics department
- Create reports using business intelligence portals
- Participate in introducing new projects
- Communicate with OEMs regarding any logistic-related issues
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Logistics or Purchasing Management (preferably)
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MDP) or relevant qualification (advantageous)
- At least 5 years of experience in logistics management in a unionized environment
- Strong understanding of customs clearance processes and procedures
- Excellent business acumen with regards to cost consciousness, efficiency improvement, and production planning
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Baan ERP system
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
- Completed a relevant management qualification (e.g. MDP)
