East London: SHE Officer, Stutterheim

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) of our forestry-related operations in Stutterheim, East London. As a SHE Officer, you will provide support to Managers on OHS matters, investigate incidents, and implement compliance with OHS legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support and guidance to Managers on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) matters within the Group
• Investigate incidents using root cause analysis tools and compile incident reports
• Implement, monitor and enforce compliance to OHS legislation
• Conducting OHS audits
• Review and update safety management systems and related training programs
• Monitor and report on all incidents and accidents
• Provide first responder assistance with medical emergencies (during and after hours)
• Compile and present Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly reports
• Participate in workplace committees and forums
• Assist and participate in fire-fighting operations
• Manage emergency preparedness of sites IOD (Injury on Duty) mitigation and management
• Contractor management
• Site environmental management and compliance
• Maintain risk registers

Requirements

• SAMTRAC Qualification or equivalent
• Occupational Health and Safety Act Training Certificate
• Firefighting and emergency procedures training
• Min 3 Years related experience in ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act in a forestry related industry
• First aid/medical response training
• Computer literacy on MS Office
• Strong administrative skills
• Valid drivers license
