Job Description
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) of our forestry-related operations in Stutterheim, East London. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in OHS compliance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support and guidance to Managers on OHS matters within the Group
- Investigate incidents using root cause analysis tools and compile incident reports
- Implement, monitor and enforce compliance to OHS legislation
- Conducting OHS audits
- Review and update safety management systems and related training programs
- Monitor and report on all incidents and accidents
- Provide first responder assistance with medical emergencies (during and after hours)
- Compile and present Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly reports
- Participate in workplace committees and forums
- Assist and participate in fire-fighting operations
- Manage emergency preparedness of sites IOD (Injury on Duty) mitigation and management
- Contractor management
- Site environmental management and compliance
- Maintain risk registers
Requirements
- SAMTRAC Qualification or equivalent
- Occupational Health and Safety Act Training Certificate
- Firefighting and emergency procedures training
- Min 3 Years related experience in ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act in a forestry related industry
- First aid/medical response training
- Computer literacy on MS Office
- Strong administrative skills
- Valid drivers license
