About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Deputy General Manager to join our team at a luxury hotel property in Knysna. With a strong F&B management background, you will be responsible for driving the success of our food and beverage operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic F&B Management Financial Oversight: Full accountability for F&B budgets, including GP margins, labor costs, and stock control.
- Operational Standards: Directing the day-to-day operations of fine dining, casual outlets, bars, and banqueting to ensure 5-star service delivery.
- Culinary Collaboration: Working with the Executive Chef on menu engineering, seasonal local sourcing, and cost-effective procurement.
- Compliance: Ensuring 100% adherence to health, safety, and liquor regulations.
- Operational Continuity: Acting as the senior lead on-site in the absence of the General Manager.
- Guest Relations: Managing VIP arrivals and high-level guest recovery with a professional and composed demeanor.
- Property Audits: Conducting regular inspections of Front of House and Back of House areas to ensure maintenance and housekeeping standards remain impeccable.
- Emergency Management: Serving as the primary point of contact for on-site emergencies or operational escalations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6–8 years in a senior F&B or Assistant General Management role within a luxury hotel environment.
- A recognized Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management.
- Advanced proficiency in Property Management Systems (PMS) and Point of Sale (POS) systems (e.g., Apex, Micros, or Opera).
- Strong financial acumen, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in guest-facing leadership.
