About the Role
Our client, a well-established manufacturer of electronic equipment for the South African mining industry, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing full bookkeeping functions and contributing to the financial management of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full bookkeeping function up to trial balance
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Manage supplier invoices, payments, and reconciliations
- Prepare bank, creditor, and debtor reconciliations
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Support payroll processing and related reconciliulations (where applicable)
- Maintain financial records in compliance with company policies and statutory requirements
- Liaise with auditors, accountants, and other external service providers
Requirements
- Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification (certificate or diploma)
- Minimum 25 years bookkeeping experience (manufacturing environment advantageous)
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping to trial balance
- Experience with VAT calculations and submissions
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Pastel, Sage, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
