About the Role
The Senior Dealmaker role at our organization involves evaluating and presenting applications for funding, structuring deals that contribute to the growth and development of the small business sector, and ensuring risk identification and mitigation. This position requires a strong background in financial, technical, and marketing due diligence functions across the country. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience in deal assessment and closing transactions, with a proven track record in leading due diligence teams and implementing corporate-wide initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform complex financial and/or technical and/or marketing due diligence functions across the country
• Lead a due diligence team and ensure risk identification and mitigation
• Assist the Regional Manager with the implementation of corporate-wide initiatives as needed
• Evaluate applications for finance (financial, technical, and marketing disciplines)
• Design and negotiate the financial, commercial, environmental, health safety (EHS), legal, and other relationships between the client and IDC for specific deals
• Ensure financial soundness of all credit submissions
• Prepare well-written and motivated reports for presentation to relevant committees as required
• Conduct peer reviews on all due diligence disciplines
• Train, mentor, and coach Business Analysts and Dealmakers
• Provide advice to Business Analysts and Dealmakers in handling enquiries and applications
Requirements
- Relevant commercial or technical honours degree
- CA (SA) qualification will be an advantage
- 8-10 years of related experience, with 8 years in deal assessment and closing transactions
- Declared competent in three due diligence disciplines (Marketing, Technical, and Financial)
- Grounded in all three disciplines
- Transaction leadership (complex deals)
- Knowledge in assessing associated issues in a transaction (Legal, risks, etc.)
- Experience in peer review
- Experience in interpretation and analysis of financial statements
- Knowledge of the market environment and technology landscape
- Knowledge of financing instruments
- Understand and review models of proposed financial structures
