About the Role
As an International Welding Technologist (IWT) at MECS Africa, you will be part of a technical organisation that requires expertise in welding methods, materials, and international standards. Your primary duty will be to provide Technical Support and Subject Matter Expertise to the team, advising on welding processes, ensuring quality control, and leading a team of welders and technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on welding methods, material selection, and welding procedures.
- Drafting and approving Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with international welding standards (ISO, EN, ASME).
- Daily supervision of approximately 5 FTE in the workshop.
- Planning work activities and monitoring progress.
- Analyzing welding defects and proposing corrective actions.
- Training and supporting welders and staff.
Requirements
- Fluency in Afrikaans, German or Dutch is not negotiable due to the location of the job.
- Due to visa requirements for the Netherlands, candidates must be younger than 30 years old.
- International Welding Technologist (IWT) diploma.
- Level II Penetrant Testing (PT) certificate preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in welding activities in the field or on location on pipes and tanks.
