Job Description
About the Role
As a Field Welder at MECS Africa, you will be responsible for carrying out welding tasks at client sites or project locations in an industrial environment. Fluency in Afrikaans, German, or Dutch is not negotiable due to the location of the job, and candidates must be younger than 30 years old due to visa requirements for the Netherlands.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing MIG/MAG, SMAW/stick and/or TIG welding work on site
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and welding instructions
- Preparing materials and the workplace according to safety regulations
- Checking the quality of welded work and performing finishing operations
- Reporting completed tasks and any deviations
- Collaborating with colleagues and maintaining contact with clients on site
- Ensuring the maintenance of tools and welding equipment
Requirements
- Grade 12 and Red Seal Trade Test
- Holder of relevant welding certificates (e.g. MIG/MAG, TIG) desirable
- Minimum 3 years’ experience
- Experience with welding activities in the field or on location on pipes and tanks
- Ability to work independently and think in solutions
- In possession of a car driving license
- Willingness to travel and occasionally work overtime
