About the Role

Impoqo Trading is seeking an experienced Auto Electrician to join our team in the Free State region. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing electrical systems on heavy-duty yellow machines, ensuring our equipment runs efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems on heavy-duty yellow machines
  • Install and service alternators, starters, batteries, sensors, lighting, and control modules
  • Troubleshoot CAN bus systems, ECUs, wiring faults, and onboard diagnostics
  • Perform scheduled maintenance in line with OEM specifications and maintenance plans
  • Implement predictive maintenance by interpreting diagnostic reports and equipment behaviour to prevent failure
  • Accurately complete and submit job cards, inspection sheets, and maintenance reports
  • Maintain detailed records of electrical faults, repairs, parts used, and time allocations
  • Support the procurement team by specifying required electrical parts and tools
  • Collaborate with mechanical teams for integrated repairs and rebuilds
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures when working on equipment
  • Ensure proper use and upkeep of diagnostic equipment and electrical tools

Requirements

  • National Diploma or Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or a related field
  • Minimum 57 years experience in plant hire operations, including yellow machinery maintenance
  • Proven experience managing workshops and technician teams
  • Strong knowledge of heavy machinery maintenance systems and diagnostics
  • Computer literacy MS Office, maintenance tracking systems, and preferably a fleet or ERP system

Qualifications

National Diploma or Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or a related field
