Job Description
Location: JHB – Eastern Suburbs
Job Purpose:
To fabricate, assemble, and repair boilers, tanks, and other heavy metal structures by applying trade skills, working from technical drawings, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The candidate must demonstrate competence through a trade test.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and assemble boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and related components using cutting, shaping, and welding techniques.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding procedures accurately.
- Perform welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.) as required to join metal components.
- Operate hand and power tools for cutting, grinding, shaping, and fitting metals.
- Inspect and test completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain workshop equipment and tools in good working order.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of industrial boilers and related equipment.
- Complete trade tests to demonstrate competence and skill level.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and other trades to meet project deadlines.
Requirements:
- Education & Qualifications:
National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent.
Trade Test Certificate as a Boilermaker (Red Seal or equivalent certification). - Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years experience in boilermaking, fabrication, or heavy engineering.
Proven track record working in industrial or engineering workshops.
Experience with welding and metal fabrication processes. - Skills & Competencies:
Proficient in metal fabrication, cutting, fitting, and welding.
Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and schematics.
Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
Knowledge of safety procedures and use of PPE in fabrication environments.
Good physical stamina and ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Additional Requirements:
Must pass a trade test evaluation.
Flexibility to work overtime or shifts as required.
