About the Role
A leading engineering consultancy company is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer (Draftsman) to join their Engineering team. As an integral member of the team, you will be responsible for initiating, planning, and developing electrical designs using EPLAN and AutoCAD software.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiation & Planning
- Attend internal & external kick off meetings following review of inputs
- Liaise with clients
- Evaluation of Scope & Specifications
- Clarification, Design & Procurement
- Clarify / develop specifications required and by making use of clarification check lists
- List all project deliverables required in project plan
- Make use of Eplan / Autocad Software to develop engineering drawings
- Manage and control all project related documentation
- Develop project deliverables as per list and sign off against QCP
- Develop BOM(s) as per design and issue signed off BOM to procurement to process PO’s
- Sign-off on Documentation
- Client liaison & Management
- Manufacturing & Engineering
- Implement Redlining initiated at Factory Acceptance Tests
- Assist with Project related queries
- Installation & Cold Commissioning
- Implement redlining
- Hot Commissioning & Handover
- Implement redlining and provide As-Built (Handover) documentation
- Managing
- Commit to and maintain schedule & key dates
- Give feedback to Operations Manager in terms of time tracking sheet daily
- Comply with design & development procedure
- Raise any issues via early warnings so that delay notices may be raised
- Comply with Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process / policy
- Ensure all documents / correspondence is backed up on respective server
- No wilful or negligent obstruction of duties of another
- General / Administration
- Adhere to all AMS Policies & Procedures
- Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with colleagues, customers, and management.
- Adhere to AMS work times by arriving and leaving on time.
- Communicate progress and issues timeously.
- Abides by the integrated management system (Quality, safety and health) and when the need arises, to contribute to continual improvement.
Requirements
### Qualifications
- Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
### Software Proficiency
- EPLAN Electric P8 (essential)
- AutoCAD (essential)
### Experience
- 45 years of experience in electrical design
- 45 years of industry experience (engineering/manufacturing/project-based)
### Technical Skills:
Design and layout of:
- MCCs (Motor Control Centres)
- PLC panels
- Distribution Boards (DBs)
- Control Panels
Electrical component selection (performance, cost, safety focused)
Accurate design documentation and material list generation
Key Competencies
- Strong understanding of electrical design regulations and compliance
- Problem-solving and debugging of electrical design issues
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Effective collaboration with project managers and workshop teams
