About the Role
Our client is looking for a Commercial Asset Recovery & Controller to join their Pretoria-based team. The role requires a professional and commercially astute individual who can operate confidently across collections, asset recovery, and sales support, engaging directly with business clients while ensuring optimal recovery and resale outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of trucks, trailers, and yellow metal assets linked to arrears accounts
- Assess asset condition, utilisation, and risk exposure
- Coordinate with external tracing agents to locate and secure assets
- Engage directly with commercial clients to negotiate settlements, restructures, or voluntary surrenders
- Perform field visits to evaluate client operations and recovery strategies
- Maintain a professional, solutions-driven approach to distressed clients
- Perform detailed technical and market valuations of assets across South Africa
- Provide accurate condition reports to support credit, collections, and sales decisions
- Identify opportunities for resale or refinancing of recovered assets
- Oversee recovered assets within the repossession/sales yard
- Manage refurbishment processes to optimise resale value
- Coordinate suppliers, repairs, and parts sourcing within budget
- Work closely with sales teams to release viable assets into the market
- Provide insights on asset pricing, demand, and resale strategy
- Contribute to maximising recovery values and reducing losses
Requirements
- 3–5 years’ experience in asset finance, transport, logistics, or plant hire; proven exposure to asset recovery, collections, fleet management, or technical inspections
- Strong understanding of commercial vehicles (trucks, trailers) and/or yellow metal; ability to assess condition, estimate repairs, and determine market value
- Relevant diploma/degree in Logistics, Fleet Management, Mechanical Engineering, or similar (preferred)
- Willingness to travel nationally
- Valid driver’s licence & vehicle
