About the Role

We are seeking an experienced External Sales Representative to join our team in Gauteng, South Africa. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities across the instrumentation and control sector, while representing our company at trade expos, industry events, and client-facing engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively prospecting and cold calling to identify and develop new business opportunities across the instrumentation and control sector.
  • Meeting with existing and prospective customers to present the company’s full EC&I product and solutions offering.
  • Converting leads and prospects into clients through strong relationship-building and consultative selling.
  • Cross-selling and upselling across the product range to maximise revenue from each account.
  • Identifying new market opportunities and staying ahead of industry trends and competitor activity.
  • Representing the company at trade expos, industry events, and client-facing engagements.
  • Maintaining a strong market presence and building lasting relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Reporting on pipeline activity, sales performance, and market feedback.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in external sales within the electrical engineering, instrumentation, or control industry — essential.
  • Solid technical knowledge of low and medium voltage switchgear — essential.
  • Experience selling Zest drives and motors, with established market knowledge and existing relationships in this space — strongly preferred.
  • Confident and professional verbal communicator with strong email etiquette and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of high customer conversion rates and opportunity spotting.
  • Technologically literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • A natural team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Self-motivated and target-driven, with the ability to work independently in the field.
