Job Description
The HR Intern will provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including
recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, data management, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be a highly organised, detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of HR
principles and practices.
Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in both physical and digital formats.
- Assist in the preparation of HR documents, including contracts, policies, and performance reviews.
- Schedule and coordinate interviews, meetings, and training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures.
- Manage the filing and archiving of HR documents.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Assist in posting job vacancies on various platforms and managing candidate applications.
- Schedule interviews and follow up with candidates.
- Support the onboarding process by preparing welcome kits, coordinating orientation sessions, and ensuring new hire paperwork is completed.
- Assist in conducting background checks and reference checks.
Data Management and Reporting
- Compile and analyse HR data for reporting purposes.
- Track employee attendance, leave balances, and other key HR metrics.
- Assist with payroll preparation by providing necessary employee data.
- Generate regular and ad-hoc HR reports.
General Support
- Provide support to the HR Team Leader/Manager and team as required.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
- Source volunteers for ad hoc events.
- Assist with the coordination of internal communications related to HR matters.
- Support HR in organising team-building activities, events, and training programs.
Minimum Requirements
- South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
- Must not have participated on the YES programme before.
- Matric.
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, or an equivalent qualification.
- Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and labour laws.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with HR Information Systems (HRIS) is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
