• Degree, diploma, or certificate in Accounting or Finance
• Registration with SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA, or similar (preferred, not essential)
• 3–5 years’ accounting experience, ideally within practice or outsourced accounting
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS for SMEs
• Advanced skills in Draftworx or CaseWare
• In-depth understanding of SARS and CIPC systems
• Strong Xero and Sage proficiency
• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets capabilities
• Technologically curious — comfortable adopting AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT)
• Excellent communication skills and client-facing professionalism
• A proactive, detail-oriented problem solver who takes full ownership of outcomes

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare complete, accurate financial statements in line with IFRS for SMEs
• Review general ledgers and trial balances for quality and consistency
• Oversee monthly reconciliations and processing accuracy
• Support SARS submissions (VAT, PAYE, Provisional & Income Tax)

Technical Support & Leadership

• Provide guidance to junior accountants and bookkeepers
• Act as the review layer between operational and management teams
• Share best practices to ensure consistent, high-quality financial output

Project Management

• Lead once-off client projects such as financial clean-ups and compliance restorations
• Diagnose issues, design solutions and execute efficiently
• Turn “messy” situations into accurate, compliant records

Process Improvement & Systems

• Help refine SOPs and improve accounting and compliance workflows
• Identify inefficiencies and propose innovative solutions
• Work closely with leadership to scale systems that support growth
