About the Role
The Procurement Officer is a critical role in ensuring the smooth delivery of construction materials, plant, equipment, and subcontracted services to our projects. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in procurement and supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure construction materials, plant, equipment, and subcontracted services
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
- Issue purchase orders and ensure compliance with company procurement policies
- Manage supplier relationships and maintain an approved supplier database
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with site managers to avoid shortages or delays
- Track orders, deliveries, and resolve supply or quality issues
- Ensure procurement activities align with project budgets and timelines
- Liaise with finance for invoice verification and payment processing
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and BBBEE procurement objectives
- Prepare procurement reports and cost analyses for management
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field (not a requirement)
- Minimum 35 years of procurement experience, preferably within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Experience with ERP or procurement systems
- Valid drivers license (site visits may be required)
