About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Controller to join our luxury lodge team in Hazyview. As a finance professional with strong accounting experience, you will be responsible for supporting full-function financial operations within a lodge environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full cash book control functions for Share Block and Homeowners Association accounts
- Perform daily cash-ups from reception, balancing credit card settlements and control accounts
- Capture receipts from bank statements and allocate to customer accounts daily
- Conduct regular cash-ups for reception and Pro Shop revenue
- Prepare banking of cash in coordination with CIT contractor
- Invoice Pro Shop revenue following cash-ups
- Assist with capturing payments as required
- Perform bank reconciliations with bank statements
- Control petty cash and additional float management
- Issue outsourced invoices on a monthly basis
- Manage intercompany invoices and credit notes, consolidating revenue transfers to loan accounts monthly
- Prepare sundry account summaries monthly
- Capture monthly journals for the Finance Controller
- Submit and manage insurance claims and recover excesses
- Distribute approved capex documentation
- Assist the Finance Controller with month-end reporting packs, balancing, and preparation
- Provide support to the finance department as required
Requirements
- Minimum of five years experience in a similar accounting or finance position
- Excellent administrative and communication skills, people-oriented
- Fully bilingual, both spoken and written
- Motivated self-starter with strong deadline management
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) and accounting software; QSA knowledge advantageous
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and VAT
- Minimum Grade 12 qualification
- Post-matric qualification in accounting or accounting software (e.g., N6)
