About the Role
We are seeking a Plant Buyer with experience in food packaging manufacturing to join our client’s team based in Boksburg for a 3-month fixed-term contract (FTC). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing procurement requirements, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and obtaining the best prices for specified quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all stock items, raw materials, consumables, and machine spares are purchased as per stock replenishments.
- Obtain best prices for specified quality standards.
- Ensure all items purchased conform to set quality standards and specification.
- Follow the company procurement policies and processes, obtain requisite quotes, approvals, and confirm prices when placing orders.
- Ensure full compliance with all procurement policies and best practice.
- Ensure suppliers deliver according to confirmed delivery dates.
- Generate purchase orders and capture accurately on JDE.
- Track progress, follow up with suppliers, and communicate with stores to understand if order has been delivered.
- Respond to requests from Divisional Procurement Manager for new products and ensure plant personnel are kept up to date with details of new products that may benefit the plant.
- Manage the back order reports.
- Review all orders on a monthly basis to identify any that may need to be cancelled or delivery dates adjusted.
- Meet the ordering requirements by balancing cost, price, quality, and service.
- Confirm price paid matches price quoted and ensure that all stakeholders are aware of the validity period of the particular quote to avoid queries with pricing.
- Ensure all financial controls are in line with audit standards.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Degree / National Diploma in Supply Chain/Procurement)
- 3 years experience in a similar position, preferably in manufacturing industry
