About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated ECD Support Coach to join our team at PEN Youth, where we ignite hope by providing support and safe spaces for inner-city youth. As an ECD Support Coach, you will play a crucial role in supporting and developing safe and enjoyable environments for learning and play to take place in our Daycare centres.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess Practitioners: Conduct ongoing assessments of practitioners in accordance with the Young Children calendar.
- Coaching visits: Visit allocated Daycare Centres regularly, interact with practitioners and support classroom practice, monitor SOUNS, Lego, Miki-Maths and Living Kids Programmes in assigned daycares, document coaching, planning and reports on a weekly basis.
- Training Presentation: Plan and present training on ECD topics as assigned, continuously research and introduce new ideas and developments, take responsibility for attendance registers, payment and logistics of assigned training presentations, attend training as assigned.
- Lesson planning: Research and develop assigned themes, organise library activities for assigned themes, take responsibility for the attendance register and logistics for assigned lesson-planning sessions, set up stimulating theme tables.
- Administrative tasks: Plan weekly assessment and coaching visits, write weekly reports on coaching visits, report concerns re Daycare centres, practitioners and children to Support Centre Management, interact with Support Centre visitors as needed, support volunteer Programmes in Daycare Centres, register new Daycare Centres with the ECD Support Centre, conduct annual practitioner interviews, and sign agreements.
- Meetings: Attend monthly staff meetings and Fellowship, quarterly Young Children Program days, attend PEN fellowships on a rotation basis.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Recognised NQF level 5 ECD qualification or diploma
- At least 2 – 3 years’ post-practical experience working with children in pre-school
- First Aid training
