About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Estimation Department as an Electrical Estimation & Design Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for producing precise and timely electrical designs that comply with both internal and external regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read carefully projects specifications, identify relevant codes and standards to have a clear understanding of the design inputs and ensure conformity to requirements.
- Plan own work to deliver expected output on time based on priority order set by supervisor.
- Perform design modelling, prepare accurate calculation notes, and develop detailed designs in area of specialty according to related design manual and predefined design concept.
- Prepare and update materials take-off considering design quantities and specifications do not surpass allocated budget for project.
- Prepare as-built drawings related to executed work on site and assist project design engineers in developing Operations & Maintenance Manual for future maintenance work on project site.
- Send internal e-mails and professional letters, attend internal meetings, and coordinate with relevant departments to provide technical assistance/information or receive clear orientation.
- Perform QA/QC activities for own, peers’, and lower levels’ designs to detect, analyze, and eliminate discrepancies while learning from own or others mistakes.
- Read carefully tender documents, get a clear understanding of project type and scope of work, and discuss relevant requirements and specifications with estimation team to ensure conformity during estimation process.
Requirements
- B. Engineering (Electrical) degree or equivalent
- ECSA membership
- Pr. Eng. ECSA
- Minimum 5 years experience
- Understanding of engineering standards
- Ability to communicate effectively internally
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Professional Engineer registration with the South African Council for Registration of Engineers (ECSA), or equivalent.
Salary & Benefits
- R49K – R65K per annum
