As the General Manager, you will oversee the overall performance of the business, ensuring operational efficiency, commercial growth, and strong governance across departments. You will work closely with technical, financial, operations, and sales teams to deliver sustainable results and elevate the companys position in the market. 🎯 Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership across all business units, ensuring alignment with commercial and operational objectives. Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient workflows in production, engineering, procurement, and support functions. Ensure strong financial oversight: manage budgets, analyse financial performance, and implement cost-control measures. Drive business development initiatives, ensuring sales targets are met and customer satisfaction remains high. Lead and mentor department managers, fostering a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement. Strengthen internal processes, governance, and compliance aligned with industry standards and organisational policies. Approve technical deliverables, including equipment designs, project documentation, and engineering outputs where required. Prepare regular performance reports for executive and board-level review. Ensure the organisation remains competitive through innovation, operational discipline, and high-quality service delivery. 📌 Minimum Requirements BEng in Electrical Engineering (Essential) MBA or equivalent business qualification (Highly Advantageous) 10 years experience in engineering, manufacturing, automation, or industrial environments. Job Description

General Manager | Johannesburg | Permanent Lead a high-performing operations team delivering complex services to blue-chip clients. Own the profit, performance and service excellence agenda across multiple contracts. Reporting to the Managing Executive, the General Manager will take full accountability for planning, organising and directing operations to achieve profit targets while meeting and exceeding service level agreements. You will translate strategy into executable plans, budgets and measurable outcomes, ensuring resources are aligned, risks are managed and service quality remains consistently high. You will work closely with contract managers, the operations manager and regional administration manager to coordinate procurement, production, field and technical services. A key part of the role is building capability in your team, driving a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and information-sharing, and ensuring that policies, standards and procedures are rigorously applied. What You’ll Do Lead operational planning, budgeting and forecasting to achieve profit contribution while ensuring full compliance with contractual SLAs. Develop and implement strategic and operational plans, translating organisational objectives into clear priorities and measurable targets. Establish and monitor performance metrics, analyse results, and initiate corrective actions to ensure continuous performance and service improvement. Coordinate procurement, production, field and technical service activities, ensuring effective policies, processes and interface with corporate functions. Assign clear accountabilities, monitor performance, conduct regular reviews and provide ongoing coaching, feedback and development opportunities. Build and uphold the company’s reputation by engaging effectively with customers, employees and community stakeholders and modelling ethical business practices. Maintain quality service by enforcing organisational standards, aligning with ISO 9001 requirements and driving adherence to risk management frameworks. Stay abreast of industry trends, best practice and technology advancements through networking, benchmarking and professional development. Enhance staff effectiveness through recruitment, selection, onboarding, training and ongoing mentoring of subordinate managers and their teams. Manage employee relations and workplace conflict, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies, procedures and corrective action processes. Drive capacity building across the operations leadership team to ensure strong succession and depth in critical roles. What You Bring A relevant degree or advanced diploma (NQF Level 7) in business, operations management, commerce or a related field. At least 5 years’ managerial experience in the services industry, with a track record of delivering against SLAs and financial targets in a multi-site or contract-based environment. Strong operational, customer relationship and financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control and financial planning. Solid understanding of the OHS Act, ISO 9001 quality management and risk management systems. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook at an intermediate level. Proven leadership ability with experience in capacity building, coaching, performance management and change leadership. Highly proactive, deadline-driven and resilient, with strong analytical ability and a focus on process improvement and problem-solving. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong negotiation, relationship-building and stakeholder management capability. What Success Looks Like Contracts consistently achieve or exceed SLA, quality, safety and profitability targets. A capable, engaged management team with clear accountabilities and strong succession depth. Robust operational governance with well-embedded policies, procedures and standards and minimal audit or compliance findings. Job Description

Large, well established and very profitable Group is seeking a sales orientated General Manager for one of their businesses to oversee all business activities relating to sales and after-sales, parts planning and distribution in South Africa as well as managing neighbouring and Sub-Saharan countries. This role includes all organisational matters including the effective management of staff. Direct Subordinates who form the Management Team are: Sales Manager, Customer Services Manager, Parts Manager and Manufacturing Manager. There is great emphasis in this role on business development and sales. Customers include the Mine Owners/Mining Houses and Mine Contractors. This candidate will also concentrate on short-term and long-term profitability with focus on agreed annual and mid-term targets in sales, market share and customer service. In addition, stock holding needs to be optimised with emphasis on spare parts, controlling WIP and ensure sustainable growth. Key performance areas, inter alia, include: Manage, motivate and oversee 200 staff in this business with particular attention on directing and leading the Management Team Ensure efficiency, effectiveness and operations are at the very highest of standards and achieve customer satisfaction and sales/service excellence through a variety of Excellence Programmes Develop and enforce business plans, budgets, investment plans and targets with key staff, especially in consultation with factories requirements and guidelines in respect of personnel, stock, sales and assets Manage working capital efficiently and effectively with reference to inventory, WIP and accounts receivables Drive, develop and maintain high level relationships with national and global customers and follow through to ensure satisfactory project delivery and customer service Monitor pricing of competitors and make proposals for pricing strategies for products, services and contracts Ensure compliance with Group policies, guidelines and directives. Furthermore, enforce compliance with legislative, regulatory and authority requirements including training Manage employee and industrial relations including resolving work related problems and dealing with disputes including disciplinary procedures Drive and support BBBEE and Mining Charter requirements in accordance with Group BEE strategy. Requirements: Applicable tertiary qualification which can be an Engineering under-graduate degree or diploma plus a business post-graduate course or certificate. Must have extensive experience at senior level in the Mining Sector with specific emphasis on general management as well as business development, sales and after-sales Results orientated strategic thinker with clear future vision, strong business development & sales skills and with the ability to exploit new opportunities, customer and service orientated, excellent management skills and ability to delegate tasks as well as leading by example Self-confident, assertive, responsible, displays initiative and is innovative, energetic and performs well under pressure. Successful candidate must have business & commercial acumen and a results orientated finisher.
