Job Description

Duties: Provide constructive support to the Workshop Foreman, ensuring effective communication and cooperation within the department. Demonstrate exemplary task performance and a high standard of workmanship. Manage your workload efficiently and take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of your work. Accurately record all hours worked and billed. Ensure that all lubricants and parts used are correctly recorded on the job card, following established systems and procedures as directed by management. Be adaptable to any process changes and ensure full compliance. Record all consumable items used during each job. Foster strong, cooperative relationships with the Parts Department. Ensure that all work meets or exceeds the minimum quality standards required by the Group . Actively participate in all relevant training programs and share newly acquired knowledge with colleagues. Take initiative for ongoing personal learning and self-development. Breakdown and On-Site Duties: When attending a breakdown, maintain professionalism and courtesy with customer staff and management. Always wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure your appearance is neat and professional. Keep the service vehicle clean, organized, and presentable at all times. Fully understand the job requirements before attending to any breakdown to ensure efficient and effective service. Adhere strictly to all traffic laws; any traffic fines incurred will be the responsibility of the offender. Teamwork and Mentorship: Maintain positive and respectful working relationships with colleagues and apprentices at all levels. Build strong mentor-apprentice relationships, providing guidance, skills transfer, and a supportive learning environment. Take ownership of apprentices assigned to you, ensuring equal learning opportunities and diligent completion of apprenticeship documentation (e.g., logbooks). Lead by example in punctuality, professionalism, and productivity. Quality and Compliance: Ensure that all warranty claims are accurately diagnosed and documented according to the 3 Cs : Complaint, Cause, and Correction. Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and promote safe working practices among colleagues. Follow all company policies regarding the use and care of tools, special tools, and company assets. Always wear the correct PPE for the specific task being performed. Communication and Customer Service: Work with your Foreman to manage working hours and overtime in compliance with the Labour Relations Act . Maintain clear, accurate, and timely communication with the Workshop Manager, ensuring customers receive relevant and concise updates. Ensure all feedback provided is factual, complete, and professional. Represent and promote the company as a trustworthy and reliable brand. Uphold the company philosophy that “The Customer is King.” Minimum Requirements: Matric Minimum 5 years commercial workshop experience as a technician. Code 14 License with valid PDP. Diesel Trade Test Completed Technical Expertise, understanding and Acknowledge Attributes: Physically fit Adaptability Hand eye coordination Attention to detail Good Communication Skills
