About the Role

The Junior Buyer role at our company in Johannesburg requires a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team. As a Junior Buyer, you will be responsible for handling local procurement of packaging materials, working closely with the external sales team to ensure accurate, cost-effective, and timely procurement aligned with customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Handling all local procurement of packaging materials, including paper, plastic, and related products
Working closely with the external sales team to ensure accurate, cost-effective, and timely procurement aligned with customer requirements
Buying, ordering, planning, and handling stock replenishment in line with MRP requirements
Working closely with the sales team to ensure that customer sales forecasts are projected correctly
Sourcing and procuring paper, plastic, and related packaging products from local suppliers
Obtaining and evaluating supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing and quality
Building and maintaining strong relationships with local suppliers
Issuing and managing purchase orders
Following up on outstanding orders to ensure on-time delivery
Maintaining accurate procurement records and documentation

Requirements

A Matric / Grade 12 is essential for this role
Tertiary qualification preferred but not essential
Previous experience in a Junior Buyer or related procurement role within the packaging, manufacturing, distribution, or related industries is preferred
Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel)
Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
