Key Responsibilities
- Develop Technical Resources: Develop Sustainability and Integrated Reporting/Thinking resources including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and guides. Update existing technical resources based on recent developments. Identify topical issues that may require guidance to be published.
- Submissions to relevant key stakeholders: Draft submission on sustainability and integrated reporting/thinking pronouncements published by standard-setters or regulators. Draft technical submissions on the proposed sustainability and integrated reporting/thinking pronouncements released for comment by standard-setting bodies or regulators. Managing the solicitation of comments from committees/sub-committees.
- Adopting quality assurance process in place for submissions ensuring the appropriate approvals are obtained prior to a submission being made. Maintain a record, where relevant archives, of the submissions made.
- Communication of the submissions to members.
- Delivery of relevant Sustainability and Integrated Reporting events: Plan the sustainability and integrated reporting/thinking events (including securing speakers) Contribute to the development of the annual sustainability CPD plan. Identify sustainability CPD opportunities for members/associates.
- Support the Lead Sustainability Reporting and Integrated Reporting/Thinking in the execution of the sustainability CPD plan.
- Technical Queries: Respond timeously to all technical queries relating sustainability and integrated reporting/thinking. Collaborate with colleagues within standards department when responding to queries containing sustainability or integrated reporting elements.
- Monitor the query system to ensure that queries are responded to timeously.
- Communication: Staying abreast of the recent sustainability, integrated reporting and thinking developments. Communicating the recent developments to members. In consultation with the Lead, determine the appropriate communication platforms to share the developments.
- Keeping the sustainability section of the SAICA website up to date. Prepare sustainability reporting/thinking articles for publication in Accountancy SA or other relevant external media platforms.
- Committee Management: Work closely with the Administrator in ensuring that meetings of committees, subcommittees and other forums are appropriately and timeously set up. Prepare the agenda and agenda pack for the committee meetings. Compile the minutes after the committee meetings.
- Execute the technical deliverables of the committee. Maintain an up-to-date record of the committee documentation. Contribute to the committee quarterly reporting.
- Internal administration/other outputs: Conduct procurement of goods and services in accordance with the SAICA Procurement Policy. Practical demonstration and living out of the SAICA values. Identification of risks in accordance with SAICAs Enterprise Risk Management Policy for consideration by the Lead and Head of Sustainability and Integrated Reporting.
- Provide support to the Lead on relevant administrative and technical matters that further the activities of SAICA or require reporting. With the consent of the Lead and/or Executive: Sustainability and Integrated Reporting, act, present or partake in activities with the Lead or on behalf of the Lead.
- Serve on relevant internal structures to support the overall efficient and effectiveness of SAICA.
Requirements
Knowledge and understanding of:
- ISSB Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 and IFRS S2).
- European Sustainability Reporting standards (ESRS)
- Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI), Task Force on Nature Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD))
- Sustainability Assurance IFRS and IFRS for SMEs standards.
- Legislation (Companies Act & Regulations).
- Integrated Reporting framework King IV
- The International Standards on Auditing (ISA)
Including the new International Standard on Sustainability Assurance (ISSA)
Qualifications
Formal education/certification:
- BCom honours (CTA) in Accounting and CA(SA) or studyingtowards the CA(SA) qualification.
- AGA(SA).
