Mid-Level Graphic Designer
Salary: R23 000 R25 000 (dependent on experience, skill set, and qualifications)
Location: Midrand (Office-based)
Working Hours: Monday Friday | 08:00 17:00
Role Overview
An established and fast-paced beverage development environment is seeking a Mid-Level Graphic Designer to support the execution of high-impact visual assets across print and digital platforms.
This role is suited to a technically strong and creatively versatile designer who can confidently translate brand concepts into production-ready artwork. The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering visually compelling outputs across packaging, branding, and marketing collateral.
You will operate in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment, requiring exceptional attention to detail, efficient workflow management, and the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects. Exposure to emerging technologies, including AI-assisted design tools, will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Development & Design Execution
- Conceptualise, design, and execute high-quality visual assets in line with client briefs and brand guidelines
- Develop artwork for a variety of applications including packaging, print media, and digital platforms
- Produce mock-ups, visual presentations, and concept layouts for internal and client-facing use
- Ensure creative outputs align with brand identity, messaging, and commercial objectives
Production & Technical Output
- Prepare accurate, print-ready artwork for multiple production processes
- Ensure all files meet required specifications for various output formats and finishing techniques
- Apply a strong understanding of colour profiles, resolution, bleed, and print setup standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve artwork or prepress issues efficiently
Project & Workflow Management
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and production targets are consistently met
- Track and deliver daily and weekly output against production expectations
- Prioritise workload effectively in a high-pressure, fast-turnaround environment
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Liaise closely with the sales and client-facing teams to interpret briefs and clarify requirements
- Communicate timelines, revisions, and deliverables clearly and professionally
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project outcomes
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Stay up to date with current design trends, tools, and technologies
- Explore and integrate AI-assisted design tools and workflow automation where applicable
- Contribute to improving internal design processes and efficiencies
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years professional experience in a graphic design or related role
- Relevant qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or Multimedia Design
- Demonstrated portfolio showcasing a strong mix of print and digital design work
Technical Competencies
Design Software
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite:
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- InDesign
- Working knowledge of CorelDRAW (advantageous, especially for print production workflows)
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams)
AI & Digital Tools
- Familiarity with AI-assisted platforms such as:
- ChatGPT
- Microsoft Copilot
- Other generative or automation tools
- Understanding of how AI can enhance design workflows and productivity
Print Production Knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of print processes including:
- Screen printing
- Lithographic (offset) printing
- Digital printing
- Understanding of finishing techniques, substrates, and material applications
Branding & Production Experience
Proven experience working on a diverse range of branded materials, including:
- Product labels and packaging design
- Vehicle wraps and machinery branding
- Large-format printing (banners, signage, canvas)
- Digital marketing assets (ads, social media content, campaigns)
- Point-of-sale and promotional materials (posters, table talkers, menus)
- Presentation design (PowerPoint and other marketing decks)
Advantageous Skills
- Exposure to AI-driven design tools within Adobe or third-party platforms
- Basic animation or motion graphics capabilities (e.g., After Effects)
- Basic video editing skills (e.g., Premiere Pro or equivalent)
- Interest in emerging creative technologies and continuous upskilling
