Our client, a well-established organisation within the mining/resources sector, is looking for a Finance Operations Accountant to join their Corporate Office team. This role is critical in coordinating group reporting, managing finance operations, and ensuring compliance across multiple financial processes. You will take ownership of the full reporting cycle, from month-end processes through to year-end financial statements, while also supporting tax, budgeting, and internal finance operations.
The role offers strong exposure to group-level reporting, audit processes, and strategic finance activities. This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong accountant looking to build depth in reporting, tax, and corporate finance within a structured and high-governance environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage month-end processes, including general ledger, reconciliations, and journal postings
- Prepare and coordinate half-year and year-end reporting packs and annual financial statements
- Liaise with internal and external auditors and assist with audit processes and queries
- Oversee intra-company transactions, receivables, and internal loan management
- Manage budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis
- Handle VAT, tax compliance, and support transfer pricing documentation
- Maintain fixed asset registers and oversee annual asset verification processes
- Support financial reporting for presentations and ad hoc business requirements
Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education:
- BCom Degree in Accounting or related field
- CA(SA) qualification
Experience:
- 3–5 years’ experience in a finance/accounting role
- Exposure to financial reporting, audits, and corporate finance processes
- Experience in a supervisory or specialist capacity advantageous
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong financial reporting and general ledger management skills
- Solid understanding of IFRS, tax (Income Tax & VAT), and regulatory requirements
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Proficiency in MS Excel and financial systems (ERP exposure essential)
- Experience with systems such as Delta ERP and Oracle Hyperion beneficial
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to engage with auditors, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- High level of integrity and adherence to corporate governance principles
