About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced IFRS 17 Technical Specialist to join our team in Johannesburg North. As a key member of our finance team, you will lead the implementation and interpretation of IFRS standards across the organization, developing and maintaining accounting policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and interpretation of IFRS 17 and other insurance-related standards
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Oversee financial reporting processes, including GAAP conversions and preparation of statutory accounts
- Provide technical guidance on complex transactions and support business units with accounting treatment
- Partner with senior stakeholders to deliver strategic financial advice and support decision-making
- Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals to ensure high-quality deliverables
- Drive process improvements and contribute to finance transformation initiatives
Requirements
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in financial services, with exposure to insurance sector preferred
- Strong background in technical accounting and advisory services
- Proven experience with IFRS 17 implementation and other insurance-related standards
- Previous experience in Big 4 audit/advisory and leadership roles
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and GAAP frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver under pressure
- Leadership and team development capabilities
Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) designation required.
