About the Role

Network Finance, a leading engineering and mining consultancy, is seeking an experienced Principal Civil/Structural Engineer to lead and deliver technically challenging underground mining projects. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a highly skilled professional with strong underground mining expertise to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the civil and structural design of underground mining infrastructure, including shafts, declines, chambers, foundations, and support systems
  • Provide technical authority and sign-off on designs, calculations, and reports
  • Manage and review designs prepared by engineers and designers
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and mining regulations
  • Conduct site inspections and provide construction support as required
  • Contribute to project planning, risk assessments, and cost estimates
  • Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers
  • Support business development through proposals and technical input

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree advantageous)
  • Professional registration (PrEng / CEng / PE or equivalent)
  • Experience, with significant exposure to underground mining projects
  • Strong background in underground structural design and ground support systems
  • Proven leadership experience in a principal or senior engineering role
  • Proficiency in relevant design software and engineering analysis tools
  • Strong communication, report writing, and client-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead technically complex projects

Qualifications

  • Professional registration (PrEng / CEng / PE or equivalent)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
