About the Role
The Procurement Lead role at Wits Health Consortium is a critical position that oversees purchasing activities, ensuring cost-efficiency and high-quality items are procured. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising staff, maintaining positive supplier relations, and evaluating supply options to ensure compliance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise staff with stock-related items
- Maintain positive supplier relations
- Evaluate supply options
- Approve purchases
- Maintain accurate records for internal purposes
- Negotiate well to ensure all purchases comply with company standards
- Implement relevant policies and procedures
- Provide training and support to staff on policy implementation
- Expedite materials receipts, manage supplier delivery risks, and supplier performance
- Administer large and complex purchases in accordance with policies (special projects)
- Develop and maintain a preferred supplier database
- Procure goods and services within budgetary guidelines
- Monitor and control individual and special project budgets in respect of expenditure items
- Oversee compliance with donor and provider requirements
- Compile and maintain all data and information regarding purchases
- Attend tender briefings
- Compiling RFQs and tender docs where required
- Ensure accurate finance records according to Purchase Orders
- Communicate timeline delays and expectations on time to all internal and external stakeholders
Requirements
- Diploma in Procurement
- Minimum 3 years experience in Procurement
- Valid drivers license with own transport
- Ability to travel
- Strong customer service orientation
- Strong administration skills
- Strong time management skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
