About the Role

The Production Manager – Paints / Coatings Manufacturing role is a critical position that requires a strong technical background and production management expertise to oversee the smooth operation of our coatings and related production processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and directing staff, production efficiencies, quality, and quantity specifications to ensure that production KPIs are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically manage and oversee the smooth operation of all coatings and related production.
  • Manage, oversee, direct, and drive staff and production efficiencies, quality, and quantity specifications.
  • Manage and oversee production scheduling and planning to run a safe and efficient production area.
  • Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and practices to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
  • Determine raw material requirements for production on a daily basis.
  • Facilitate good lines of communication between the laboratory and production departments.
  • Ensure that production is planned in terms of raw material requirements, resource requirements, and deadlines before commencing with production.
  • Manage and ensure that finished products and packaging are of the highest order.
  • Advise and communicate product-related issues to the technical manager and assist with finding solutions.
  • Ensure that production timelines and deadlines are adhered to, and that missed deadlines are communicated to all departments timeously.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) in terms of stock management to ensure efficient use and optimal storage of stock.
  • Implement and develop stock holding schedules for fast-moving goods and minimum stock holding levels.
  • Determine minimum and maximum levels of raw material and packing material requirements to be kept on hand for production.

Requirements

A tertiary qualification in a production, technical, or chemically related discipline is required. Previous experience having worked within a production management role within a manufacturing environment is essential. Previous experience managing a team of Production Staff is also essential.
