About the Role

Hire Resolve’s client, a Civil Engineering company, is seeking a Project Manager (Water and Sanitation Projects) to join their team in Johannesburg, GP. The successful candidate will be involved in planning, design, and implementation of water and sanitation infrastructure projects across the public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and guiding the design team
  • Preparing and presenting weekly and monthly reports progress reports to the management team and clients
  • Ensuring compliance with the statutory requirements for water and wastewater construction projects
  • Overall contract/project management, attendance of progress meetings, preparation of payment certificates, dealing with contractual claims
  • Facilitating approval of drawings by all relevant bodies
  • Conducting site inspection and ensuring that safety and quality standards are adhered to
  • Developing detailed project plans (MS Project), scopes, objectives, and managing project progress to meet deadlines and milestones
  • Ensuring resource availability and allocation
  • Delivering every project on time within budget and scope
  • Managing client relationships with clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrating strong commercial understanding to ensure financial condition of the project is accurately monitored and reported
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Applying problem-solving skills and risk anticipation
  • Utilizing Engineering Contracts Management (FIDIC, NEC, JBCC, GCC) and Project Risk Management techniques
  • Coordinating internal resources and contractors for flawless execution of project
  • Ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within the budget, and scope of an extremely high quality
  • Implementing verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs
  • Measuring project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques
  • Managing relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Implementing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act recommendations from audits carried out within the project environment

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in water and sanitation construction projects
  • 5 years of experience in project management with a good understanding of project execution, preferably with some exposure to engineering contracting models
  • Sewer reticulation design skills
  • Basic level MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Power Point skills required
  • Intermediary MS Excel and MS Project skills required
  • Bachelor’s degree (Bsc. or B.Tech) or similar in the built environment (Civil, Construction Management)
  • Ability to manage financial budgets
  • Proven track record in managing construction projects in water and sanitation
