Job Description Reporting to the Drawing Office Manager You will perform the following duties: Draughting and 3D Modelling Interpret project briefs, client requirements, and initial design concepts to develop detailed drawings Using SolidWorks, create accurate 3D CAD models of retail stores, individual units, and fixtures for client presentations and internal reviews. Produce precise 2D technical drawings for all manufactured components, including joinery, cabinetry, and metalwork assemblies.Develop comprehensive factory drawings that provide clear and unambiguous instructions for the wood and steel production teams, including dimensions, materials, and assembly methods.Ensure all drawings adhere to company standards, industry best practices, and project specifications. Revise and update drawings based on feedback from clients, Project Managers, or production teams. Provide full site layout as per project managers request for site set-out. Technical Specification and Communication Work closely with Project Managers to understand and clarify all technical aspects of a project. Communicate directly with clients, when required, to discuss design details and gain approval on drawings. Liaise with the Wood and Steel Production Managers to ensure that drawings are practical, manufacturable, and optimized for our specific machinery and processes. Ensure all technical specifications for materials, finishes, and hardware are clearly and completely noted on the drawings. Material Requisition and CNC Programming From the final approved drawings, generate accurate and detailed bills of materials (BOMs) or order requisitions. Submit material requisitions to the Procurement Manager via procurement software, Precoro, in a timely manner to align with project schedules. Send off for costing any items that are highly bespoke directly to the supplier to get cost estimates, there may be technical questions that procurement might not know for highly detailed buyouts. Produce accurate CNC programs for the wood factorys CNC machines based on the technical drawings. Ensure CNC programs are optimized for material usage to minimize waste. Provide the CNC programs and relevant setup information to the CNC Operator. Provide cut files for the laser cutter operator and CO2 laser operator, ensuring to include all necessary instructions such as material spec, quantity and any other information that is required for that task. Administration and Document Control Maintain an organized digital filing system for all project drawings and related technical documents. Manage version control for all drawings to ensure that the production teams are always working from the latest approved version. Prepare and issue drawing packs to relevant internal departments and external suppliers as required. Keep accurate records of drawing approvals and revisions.
