Johannesburg: Senior Data Scientist (Scorecards)

Theyre currently on the hunt for a Senior Data Scientist (Scorecard) – someone who can combine technical precision with commercial thinking to develop world-class application scorecards. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and review application scorecards, including reject inference and validation methodologies. Lead feature engineering efforts to boost model accuracy and business relevance. Collaborate with stakeholders to align scoring strategies with commercial goals. Develop predictive solutions in low-data environments, especially for SME lending. Provide mentorship and guidance to Junior Analysts and Data Scientists. Present technical concepts to senior stakeholders with confidence and clarity. Drive thought leadership in credit risk modelling and best practices. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver on key business priorities. Job Experience and Skills Required: BSc/BCom in Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering (or a related quantitative field). Minimum 8 years hands-on experience in application scoring and credit risk modelling. Strong proficiency in SAS (non-negotiable); experience with Paragon Modeler is advantageous. Proven record in scorecard development, reject inference, model validation, and feature engineering. Experience across multiple industries (banking, fintech, telecoms, insurance, retail, etc.) will be highly regarded.
