About the Role
A new career opportunity has become available for a Senior Hydrologist at an independent consultancy firm in the water and environmental sciences field, based in Johannesburg. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Hydrologist.
Key Responsibilities
- Proficient in obtaining hydrological and meteorological data and accurate analysis
- Hydrological and hydraulic modelling abilities (Pitman, WRSM 2000, and HEC-RAS, PCSWMM or similar)
- Conduct field measurements including water flow and water quality measurements
- Measure and graph phenomena such as stream flows, and changes in water volumes
- Design and conduct scientific hydrological investigations to ensure that accurate and appropriate information is available for use in water resource management decisions
- Hydrological catchment delineation
- Hydrological calculations, including rainfall-runoff and peak flows
- Undertake flood risk assessment and flood line determination
- Water & Salt balances
- Storm Water Management Planning
- Risk and mitigation assessments and management plans
- Conceptual design and sizing of storm water infrastructure
- Auditing water infrastructure in terms of DWS guidelines
Requirements
- BSc or Engineering degree (+ MSc in Hydrology or similar optional)
- Membership of professional industry bodies (Pr. Sci. Nat, Pr. Eng) or similar
- Minimum 8 years hydrological experience
- Experience within the consulting environment and mining sector will be an added advantage
- Experience in managing a team
Qualifications
- Completed BSc or Engineering degree in Hydrology or related field
- Membership of professional industry bodies (Pr. Sci. Nat, Pr. Eng)
Salary & Benefits
Salary: R750K/yr – R950K/yr, negotiable
