About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Development Engineer Hardware to join our innovative engineering and technology environment in Johannesburg. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for designing and developing advanced electronic systems for industrial applications, collaborating closely with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust and reliable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced electronic systems for industrial applications
- Collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams across the full product lifecycle
- Drive high-quality hardware design and mentor junior engineers
- Contribute to ongoing technical innovation
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years experience in:
- Analog and digital circuit design
- Embedded systems design and programming
- Industrialisation and product development of electronic systems
- Hardware and software integration in embedded environments
- C/C++ programming for embedded applications
- PCB design (experience with Altium Designer highly advantageous)
- Working with microcontrollers, FPGAs, and digital signal processing (DSP)
- Communication protocols, such as I²C, SPI, UART, CAN, and ethernet
- Circuit simulation tools (LTSpice, PSpice, MATLAB or equivalent)
- Reading and interpreting technical schematics and datasheets
- Design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT)
- EMC/EMI compliance and relevant industry standards
Qualifications
- BEng (Electronics) / BSc Engineering (Electronics) or equivalent qualification
