About the Role
The Senior SHEQ Manager / Exec – Plastics Manufacturing role is a critical position that requires a seasoned professional to lead and govern the Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Compliance (SHEQ & QC) functions across all manufacturing operations in our plastics manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business sustainability, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing enterprise-level leadership and governance over SHEQ & QC across all manufacturing operations.
- Ensuring full legal compliance, product quality assurance, risk management, and integration of SHEQ and QC principles into operational decision-making.
- Defining and implementing an integrated SHEQ and quality strategy aligned to business objectives.
- Establishing governance frameworks, policies, standards, and delegations of authority.
- Developing, implementing and maintaining the company’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
- Providing functional oversight with regards to quality control and assurance.
- Overseeing the company’s Quality Management System across all production areas.
- Ensuring compliance with ISA standards and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Driving the resolution of NCRs within defined timeframes, including corrective actions, customer complaints, recalls and quality risks.
- Ensuring regular internal quality audits and inspections, including supplier and customer audits and readiness programmes.
- Developing, implementing and maintaining an Environmental Management System aligned with South African environmental legislation.
Requirements
- A Degree / Diploma in a SHEQ related qualification (e.g. SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor).
- Postgraduate qualification or certification in SHEQ and QC Management is advantageous.
- Previous experience having worked within a senior SHEQ and/or Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Previous ISO 9001 experience is essential for the role.
