Johannesburg: Senior Tax Advisory Consultant

Job Description

This role offers exposure to a wide variety of tax advisory engagements, where no two matters are the same. You will work closely with experienced professionals on complex local and international tax matters, gaining practical exposure to high-level advisory work while continuing to grow your technical expertise. If you are someone who enjoys analyzing legislation, forming defensible views, and writing well-structured advisory opinions, this role will provide the platform to sharpen those skills while working on intellectually stimulating matters. Key Responsibilities: Conduct tax advisory work, including drafting technical opinions, advisory memorandums, and client correspondence Analyze tax legislation, case law, and regulatory developments to form defensible advisory positions Assist clients with complex corporate tax and cross-border matters, including international tax considerations Participate in client consultations and provide practical solutions to bespoke tax challenges Prepare presentations and structured advisory documentation for internal and external stakeholders Maintain accurate time records and support basic administrative processes relating to advisory engagements Job Experience and Skills Required: Law Degree OR CA(SA) qualification If CA(SA): HDip in Tax or relevant tax-related coursework is advantageous 2 to 3 years experience within a corporate tax environment Experience gained within a law firm, accounting firm, or large professional services environment is highly advantageous Exposure to tax advisory services, the interpretation of legislation, or opinion writing will be strongly preferred Any exposure to international or cross-border tax matters will be beneficial Strong written communication with the ability to draft professional advisory opinions and letters Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret legislation and apply it to real-world scenarios Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Ability to structure professional presentations and written advisory documentation Genuine passion for tax and willingness to pursue further professional development or postgraduate study Ability to work independently and take initiative Strong professional work ethic and reliable attendance Interest in advisory work rather than purely compliance-driven roles Apply now!
