About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Housekeeping Team Leader to join our team at our resort in Knysna. As a key member of our housekeeping department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and service delivery to our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all bedrooms and public areas are serviced and cleaned daily
- Check that all rooms are cleaned as soon as they have been used to ensure a speedy turnaround
- Assist with cleaning of rooms when required
- Assist with turn-downs and room drops when required
- Washing and ironing of all hotel and guest linen when required
- Control of linen stock
- Report any condemned linen to the Housekeeping Manager
- Ensuring linen is kept to the standard of a Four-Star Hotel and is clean and in good order
- Control of Guest supplies and amenities
- Report any discrepancies to the Housekeeping Manager
- Ensure that stock takes are done weekly
- Assist Outsourced Housekeeping Company staff with stock takes of cleaning materials
- Ensure laundry equipment is kept in good running order
- Ensure Laundry areas are kept clean and maintained to the required standard
- Discipline staff when required
- Ensure staff follow procedures according to the Policies and Procedures Manual
- Ensure public areas are kept clean and maintained to the required standard
- Report any irregular incidents to the Housekeeping Manager
- Assist Housekeepers with general duties
- Training of new staff
- Recording of guest and staff dry cleaning
- Ensure that VIP rooms are checked, and the designated extras have been included in these rooms
- All rooms are returned to the proper status by the end of the shift
- Ensure that rooms are checked regularly for repairs and refurbishing, and that the appropriate maintenance is affected
- Any loses or damages to furniture and fittings or equipment are reported and resolved according to policies and procedures
- To ensure that adequate supplies of cleaning materials are available and handle any shortage or inadequacies in terms of quality
- Up to date records on lost and found items are maintained in accordance with departmental procedures.
- All guest requests with regards to Housekeeping are dealt with to the standards required by the hotel, and to respond promptly and politely to guest telephone inquiries, noting details and following up accordingly
- Ensure that all staff are correctly dressed to satisfy statutory requirements as well as enhancing the image of the establishment
- Get the daily handover from Room Attendants at the end of the shift
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 2 Years experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor in a 4 star Hotel or Resort
- Interpersonal skills
- Problem solving skills
- Good communication skills
- Computer Literacy and knowledge of Stock Control, OE and Linen.
