As an R&D Polymer Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and optimizing cutting-edge polymer formulations. You will lead research projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the advancement of high-performance materials. You will design and implement innovative solutions to enhance material performance and sustainability while working closely with internal teams and external partners to drive product development from concept to commercialization. Utilizing advanced analytical techniques, you will characterize and evaluate polymer properties, ensuring optimal material functionality. Additionally, you will stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
Education:
- D. in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Alternatively, a Master’s degree with significant industry
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in polymer research and development, preferably in the composites or coatings industries.
- Proven track record of developing and commercializing new polymer products.
- Experience managing a team of scientists and technicians.
- In-depth knowledge of polymer chemistry, synthesis, and characterization techniques (e.g., GPC, DSC, TGA, FTIR, rheology).
- Familiarity with polymer processing techniques such as open moulding, closed moulding pultrusion, filament winding, hot and cold press moulding compounds (SMC and DMC) and coating application methods (e.g. brush, spray, coil coating).
