About the Role

Defy Appliances is seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist – Production Engineer to join our team in Ladysmith. As a key member of our production engineering team, you will play a crucial role in implementing and improving production layouts and processes to drive efficiency, productivity, and quality in our Refrigeration manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Optimize production on assembly lines, material flow, and ergonomics
• Conduct time studies, line balancing, capacity planning, and continuous improvement projects using lean tools and root cause analysis
• Manage new product introductions and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
• Optimize manufacturing layouts, workflows, and equipment for fridge assembly lines, reducing cycle times and defects in components like compressors and evaporators
• Lead continuous improvement projects using lean principles (e.g., SMED, TPM) and root-cause analysis for issues like yield losses or quality deviations

Requirements

• BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering
• 3 years in manufacturing engineering, preferably appliances/refrigeration
• Proven lean/TPM projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SAP, MS Office
• Analytical mindset, leadership, and union communication skills
