About the Role
Join our team at Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine, a values-driven company that prioritizes its people’s well-being. As Magazine Master, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient handling of explosives in our Limpopo Province mine.
Key Responsibilities
- Order, receive, and issue explosives as per the Explosives Act
- Control and store explosives according to regulations contained in the Explosives Act
- Place orders with the procurement department and liaise with suppliers
- Correlate orders with received quantities by filling in the Magazine Register
- Receive and handle explosives as per regulation and pertaining to the Explosives Act
- Offload explosives and check quantities
- Arrange for transporting of explosives from surface magazine to underground store as required
- Ensure correct quantity and type of explosives are adhered to
- Oversee issuing of explosives from underground store that have been logged in Magazine Register
- Capture stock issued on system after daily stock taking
- Issue daily instructions when necessary
- Check entries made by Explosive Material Handlers in ordering and issuing book and reconcile with Magazine Register
- Ensure handlers work according to the Act and standard operating procedure within the explosive Act
- Train handlers on how to use and handle explosives
- Properly stack and sort various types of explosives as per the Explosives Act
- Maintain clean and neat work area
- Record keeping of all relevant registers, issues, receipts, and daily explosives records
Requirements
- Grade 12/Standard 10 Certificate
- Certificate of Competency from Chief Inspector of Explosives (CIE)
- Code 08 (B) Drivers Licence
- 2 years practical experience in material handling (advantageous)
