About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Pastry Chef to join our luxury lodge at Madikwe, where you will be responsible for preparing and baking a wide range of pastry goods, bread, cakes, and desserts. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will ensure that all pastries are prepared to high standards, while maintaining excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares and bakes bread loaves and rolls, including specialty breads, cakes, biscuits, desserts, and pastry goods as well as hot box snacks and tea-time treats.
- Checks the quality of raw materials and weighs ingredients.
- Coordinates the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls, desserts, and pastry products, as well as hot box snacks.
- Maintains portion control to ensure minimum wastage.
- Performs regular stock takes in conjunction with main kitchen.
- Ensures all pastry kitchen monthly and daily administration is completed accurately and timeously.
- Enforces hygiene regulations and Health and Safety skills in the pastry kitchen.
Requirements
- 2-3 years previous senior pastry chef experience in a 4/5-star establishment (Essential)
- Culinary qualification (Beneficial)
