We are looking for a mid-level Hotspot Developer & Tester to help us improve and innovate our proprietary hotspot platform. This is not a coding role (although understanding of code is a bonus). We are looking for someone with a scientific approach to monitoring and performance of systems. You should be driven by understanding core drivers of performance and behaviour, be excited by running tests and hypotheses, and interested in the automated application of the changes to work toward continuous improvement. Various datasets will be used in this to anaylze revenue, user behaviour, traffic, and RF statistics. Key Responsibilities Test and validate hotspot functionality using RADIUS and Mikrotik systems. Assess and troubleshoot Wi-Fi performance in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, with an understanding of BSS colouring, airtime fairness, channel utilisation, and interference mitigation. Document bugs, system flows, test results, and progress reports.? Collaborate with customer service as a key data entry point for identifying real-world issues. Develop hypotheses from performance and revenue data to guide improvements. Conduct field tests and troubleshoot issues in live environments. Provide structured feedback to engineering teams for software and process improvements. What We’re Looking For: A self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Somebody with grit who is motivated by deeply understanding cause and effect. Technical understanding of networking fundamentals, or aptitude to understand engineering stacks. (Generally Wi-Fi protocols and hotspot operation). Analytical mindset — comfortable working with metrics, KPIs, and business data to identify improvement areas. Ability to write clear, concise documentation of technical processes and bugs. Nice to have Understanding of voucher APIs and how they integrate with hotspot systems. Strong knowledge of Wi-Fi protocols, including airtime utilisation, channel planning, and interference detection Understanding of SQL databases Hands-on experience with RADIUS, Mikrotik, Cisco systems, and hotspot deployments. Work Environment Primarily on-site, with some field testing and partial remote work possible. Collaborative, impact-driven team culture with a focus on ownership and making a difference Requirements Education & Experience Relevant diploma/degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred, but strong technical aptitude may substitute). 2–4 years’ experience in Wi-Fi networks, hotspot systems, or related networking/telecoms environments is advantageous. Technical Skills (advantageous) Understanding of networking fundamentals, particularly Wi-Fi protocols (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz, airtime fairness, channel utilisation, interference mitigation, BSS colouring). Hands-on knowledge of Mikrotik, RADIUS, and hotspot operation. Ability to run field tests, troubleshoot performance issues, and document findings. Familiarity with voucher APIs, SQL databases, and integration of hotspot systems. Exposure to Cisco or similar networking systems. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills Strong analytical mindset; comfortable interpreting revenue, usage, traffic, and RF datasets. Ability to develop hypotheses, run structured tests, and interpret results to drive improvements. Detail-oriented with ability to write clear and concise technical documentation. Soft Skills Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take ownership. Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineering and customer service teams. Resilience and grit, motivated by deeply understanding cause-and-effect relationships. Comfortable in a dynamic, on-site work environment with some field testing.
