Job Description
We are looking for a mid-level Hotspot Developer & Tester to help us improve and innovate our proprietary hotspot platform. This is not a coding role (although understanding of code is a bonus). We are looking for someone with a scientific approach to monitoring and performance of systems.
You should be driven by understanding core drivers of performance and behaviour, be excited by running tests and hypotheses, and interested in the automated application of the changes to work toward continuous improvement.
Various datasets will be used in this to anaylze revenue, user behaviour, traffic, and RF statistics.
Key Responsibilities
Test and validate hotspot functionality using RADIUS and Mikrotik systems.
Assess and troubleshoot Wi-Fi performance in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands,
with an understanding of BSS colouring, airtime fairness, channel utilisation, and
interference mitigation.
Document bugs, system flows, test results, and progress reports.?
Collaborate with customer service as a key data entry point for identifying
real-world issues.
Develop hypotheses from performance and revenue data to guide improvements.
Conduct field tests and troubleshoot issues in live environments.
Provide structured feedback to engineering teams for software and process
improvements.
What Were Looking For:
A self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work
independently. Somebody with grit who is motivated by deeply understanding
cause and effect.
Technical understanding of networking fundamentals, or aptitude to understand
engineering stacks. (Generally Wi-Fi protocols and hotspot operation).
Analytical mindset comfortable working with metrics, KPIs, and business data
to identify improvement areas.
Ability to write clear, concise documentation of technical processes and bugs.
Nice to have
Understanding of voucher APIs and how they integrate with hotspot systems.
Strong knowledge of Wi-Fi protocols, including airtime utilisation, channel
planning, and interference detection
Understanding of SQL databases
Hands-on experience with RADIUS, Mikrotik, Cisco systems, and hotspot
deployments.
Work Environment
Primarily on-site, with some field testing and partial remote work possible.
Collaborative, impact-driven team culture with a focus on ownership and making
a difference
Requirements
Education & Experience
Relevant diploma/degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or
related field (preferred, but strong technical aptitude may
substitute).
24 years experience in Wi-Fi networks, hotspot systems, or
related networking/telecoms environments is advantageous.
Technical Skills (advantageous)
Understanding of networking fundamentals, particularly Wi-Fi
protocols (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz, airtime fairness, channel utilisation,
interference mitigation, BSS colouring).
Hands-on knowledge of Mikrotik, RADIUS, and hotspot operation.
Ability to run field tests, troubleshoot performance issues, and
document findings.
Familiarity with voucher APIs, SQL databases, and integration of
hotspot systems.
Exposure to Cisco or similar networking systems.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
Strong analytical mindset; comfortable interpreting revenue, usage,
traffic, and RF datasets.
Ability to develop hypotheses, run structured tests, and interpret
results to drive improvements.
Detail-oriented with ability to write clear and concise technical
documentation.
Soft Skills
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take
ownership.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineering and
customer service teams.
