Job Description
- Manage and take full responsibility for first aid procedures, Injury on Duty (IOD) cases, and emergency procedures, including fire drills and employee first aid training
- Identify, assess, and manage safety risks; monitor audits, surveys, and maintenance activities to minimise fire and explosion risks
- Design, implement, and manage a SHE Management System in compliance with OHSAS 18001 standards
- Oversee workshop safety, including 5S implementation and regular review of maintenance SOPs to ensure safe work practices
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Safety, Health & Environmental legislation, standards, acts, and bylaws
- Ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993)
- Conduct SHE inductions for all new employees and contractors
- Ensure site procedures and work instructions are maintained, communicated, and supported by appropriate staff training
- Liaise and coordinate with health and safety committees, the Department of Labour, government bodies, and regulatory authorities
- Identify workplace hazards and ensure effective communication to all employees
- Continuously review and optimise security procedures and policies
- Manage the day-to-day activities of security personnel and/or service providers
- Oversee site waste management, including the implementation of a SHP waste recycling programme
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste volumes and waste management costs
- Continuously reduce waste management costs
