Job Description

Job Purpose:
The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales growth by identifying new business opportunities, promoting the companys technical product range, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The role requires a proactive sales approach, strong technical understanding of hydraulic systems, and the ability to deliver exceptional customer service while achieving sales and profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities Business Development

  • Promote the companys full range of products and services to existing and prospective customers.

  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities to expand the customer base.

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients.

  • Achieve and exceed sales targets and key performance indicators.

  • Conduct sales presentations and product demonstrations to prospective customers.

  • Prepare, present, and negotiate quotations and sales proposals.

  • Apply solution-based selling by recommending products and services that meet customer requirements.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver comprehensive product solutions.

Financial Performance

  • Achieve and exceed allocated sales budgets and revenue targets.

  • Plan and execute regular sales calls and customer visits to drive business growth.

  • Maintain and achieve the required gross profit (GP%) targets.

Sales Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of customer information and sales activities using CRM systems such as Skynamo.

  • Manage and maintain the quotation pipeline to ensure timely follow-up and closure of opportunities.

  • Track sales leads, quotations, and opportunities to maximise conversion rates.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Understand customer operational requirements and recommend suitable technical solutions.

  • Address customer queries, complaints, and service-related issues promptly and professionally.

  • Gather and analyse customer feedback to improve service delivery and operational processes.

  • Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional products and services to existing customers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a technical sales environment.

  • At least 5 years experience in technical roles within hydraulics or related industries.

  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems, components, and circuitry.

  • Technical knowledge within the hydraulics and/or automation industry.

  • Valid drivers licence.

  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Experience with ERP systems such as Syspro will be advantageous.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and customer relationship management skills.
