About the Role
The Dealmaker role at Nkomazi is a critical position that requires evaluating and presenting applications for funding, structuring deals, and contributing to unit and industry development goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing financial, technical, and marketing due diligence functions, ensuring risk identification and mitigation, and aligning deal outcomes with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and present applications for funding
- Structure deals that contribute towards unit and IDC objectives as well as industry development goals
- Perform financial and/or technical and/or marketing due diligence functions
- Ensure risk identification and mitigation
- Design and negotiate the financial, EHS, legal, and other relationships between the client and IDC for specific deals
- Participate in due diligences
- Deal optimisation – ensuring deal alignment with strategic objectives and contributing to industry development goals
- Account management function up to first disbursement
- Prepare and submit basic assessments and comprehensive credit proposals that meet IDC funding requirements
- Maintain meaningful relationships with enquirers, applicants, and portfolio clients
- Liaise, communicate, and promote the unit externally
Requirements
- Relevant commercial or technical honours degree
- 5-8 years related experience, including 2-3 years in assessment and closing of transactions (management of approved deals up to first drawdown)
- Declared competent in two due diligence disciplines (Marketing, Technical or Financial)
- Grounded in one of the above due diligence disciplines
- Experience in interpretation of financial statements
- Sector-specific knowledge would be advantageous
